Berkeley Castle is a Norman Castle; now a comfortable family home. From Edward II’s Cell in the original Keep; through Mediaeval kitchens and the Great Hall, to the more elegant State Apartments, the Castle and Gardens has grown with the centuries. Queen Elizabeth I’s bowling green, sweeping lawns and terraced gardens surround the Castle, creating wonderful grounds.
The Castle is open from Easter to October and throughout the summer there are activities for all the family. The Butterfly House is also open from May to September, where you can enjoy the fabulous collection of roses in the magical walled garden.
Group visits are available on Thursdays and Sundays in April, May, September and October and from Sunday to Thursday throughout June, July and August. There is ample coach parking space and Castle Shop and Tea Room, which serves the most delicious homemade cakes.
