Come and experience 2000 years of local history from the Romans to Beatrix Potter and Kurt Schwitters. The museum, gallery and reference library opens 7 days a week from 10.00am to 5.00pm except at Christmas. Enjoy changing exhibitions, interactive displays for families, activities and specialist talks to groups. The museum shop sells a diverse range of Made in Cumbria gifts as well as our own speciality gifts. We look forward to seeing you when you're next visiting the Lake District!

Puzzling Place is a fixed location Tourist Attraction that opened to the public in Museum Square, Keswick on the 7th of July 2001. It is the product of two years work by local brothers Tim and Andrew. Our aim was to open a gallery style exhibition that was different to anything experienced before, both in content and the relaxed, informal ambience of the place that couples education with the elements of fun and surprise.

Our experienced guides adapt our tours to interest people of all ages & written children's guides have been created for the museum. Drop in to our family activity room opposite Dove Cottage & enjoy a range of avtivities.
Family Activity room open daily, 10am - 5pm, closed for lunch 12noon - 2pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
