The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum opened on the 28th October 1978 – the 250th anniversary of Cook’s birth. It is housed in a purpose-built building close to the granite urn marking the site of Cook’s birthplace cottage in Stewart Park, Marton, Middlesbrough.

Our Museum offers visitors an opportunity to discover the skills and customs that built Cleveland's Ironstone heritage. It is the only Museum in the UK which tells the story of
Ironstone mining; a key part of the local history of the social and industrial development of Cleveland and Teesside.

SOFT PLAY AREA - Crazy Corner is a childrens soft play activity centre. It has everything from slides, climbing activities to bouncy castles. There are 3 seperate area's for children under 3, under 5 and upto 12 years old. Every child will be happy to play, Whilst the children play parents can sit back and enjoy a drink, snack or meal from our cafe.

Barnard Castle is spectacularly set on a high rock above the River Tees, on the fringe of an attractive market town. Taking its name from its 12th-century founder, Bernard de Balliol, this huge and imposing fortress was later developed by the Beauchamp family and Richard III. Richard's boar emblem is carved above a window in the inner ward, the castle's chief strength: here loyalist forces were besieged during the 1569 Northern Rising against Queen Elizabeth, before surrendering to 5,000 rebels.
