We are a long established school being founded in 1937 in Crofton, Wakefield as Wakefield Tutorial Preparatory School; although the school moved to Morley in 1958, the name remained the same. After the decision to move to our new premises we felt it was time to change the school name to something more appropriate. The new building offers a greatly improved learning environment for our children. It is single story and so fully complies with DDA legislation, the rooms are spacious and it has a garden that supports the Early Years Foundation Stage. It is also used by the other children to support their learning and play.

Rastrick Independent School has raised its age to 16 years or the end of year 11. The school site has been developed accordingly with an extensive building and re-furbishing programme. The new facilities include a Science Laboratory, an Art and Design Laboratory, a Bistro style dining room for Grammar School pupils, a Food Technology area, and extension to Library and Computer facilities, new Languages, Humanities, English and Mathematics departments and Music practice rooms. Sports and Music have also been given priority.

Children may attend St Hilda's from birth in a specialized birth-to-3 years unit and then move seamlessly through the school. At 7 years, the boys transfer to Silcoates Junior School and the girls remain in our all-girls Junior School until they also move at 11 years to Silcoates Senior School.
