Bristol Cathedral Choir School welcomes boys and girls aged 11-18 from all backgrounds and of all abilities, providing them with an excellent all-round education. In September 2008, BCCS became an Academy: the first choir school in the country to do so. This meant the School ceased charging fees to parents. As an Academy, we have the flexibility to meet the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century and to make our contribution to a changing educational environment both within the city of Bristol and nationally.

Clifton College - Bristol

The three schools that form Clifton College are bound by a common purpose and a shared ethos but are separate and distinct schools each with its own character.

Located in what the poet Betjeman described as 'the handsomest suburb in Europe' each of the three schools share the same splendid surroundings, and each has the twin advantages of being close to the resources of a thriving modern city and yet to some spectacular countryside too.

And so what is the ethos that the three schools share? Wholeness is the key. Clifton College is a school in which all of the pupils are valued in all that they do and in every aspect of their intellectual, sporting and spiritual lives.

Clifton High School is a very special school. Founded in 1877 by visionaries with a belief in education for life, we have grown to be one of the leading schools in the south west, providing an excellent education for children from aged three to eighteen.

In September 2008 we welcomed our first young men into our Sixth Form and in September 2009 we will begin the process of becoming fully co-educational at secondary level - an exciting new phase of our development.

You can feel what a special place this is as you walk around the school. It is full of laughter and parents comment on the excellent relationships between teachers and children - relaxed but always respectful. The almost tangible rapport between adult and pupil creates an atmosphere where your child can develop happily and successfully.

Colston's School was founded in 1710 by the Bristol philanthropist, Edward Colston.
The school moved from the centre of the city to a former palace of the Bishop of Bristol, at Stapleton, in 1857.
Colston's places a very high priority on the pastoral care of each boy and girl in its care. All members of the teaching and boarding staff have a responsibility for ensuring the well being of each individual.
Although Colston's is predominantly a day school, there is a significant and vibrant boarding community, giving the school its unique character and atmosphere.

Queen Elizabeth's Hospital - Clifton

Queen Elizabeth's Hospital is no ordinary school. These pages show a little of those special qualities which make QEH unique, but you need to visit and meet the boys to understand fully why QEH is so different from other schools in Bristol and beyond.

With only 550 Senior and 80 Junior day pupils, we know every boy. Individuals matter: there's space for a boy to be himself. Visitors comment on the friendliness and confidence of the boys, and the boys speak about how well they get on with each other and the staff.

We are academically selective but not socially exclusive. There's a good mix of people at QEH. With a curriculum specifically tailored to meet boys' needs, examination results for boys at QEH are second to none in Bristol. It is a pleasure to work in such a unique place and a privilege to play a part in shaping the lives of the young men of QEH.

I hope you will come to visit us and I look forward to meeting you and your son.
